CEE 4803A: Data Analytics in Civil and Environmental Engineering

This course will introduce students to the framework under which data-driven assessments in civil and environmental engineering are conducted. More specifically, the course will discuss (1) how data is accessed and assessed (e.g., exploratory data analyses); (2) data analytic tools, focused on machine learning, for classification and regression problems; and (3) the advantages and limitations of data-driven approaches with a focus on machine learning. The course also addresses the skills required to communicate the results of data-driven assessments and the value of working on teams towards a common goal. These aspects will be emphasized during the course project.
